You’re the Catalyst queries have been sent! I’m still researching more agents to send queries to but I’ve sent a bunch for now. Now I play the waiting game which is never fun. I did get on rejection already (super fast, too) but it was from somewhere that only had you send the query and no pages. I don’t like that as much. So hopefully someone will read the pages and like it! It’s my baby, as I’m sure all of you think of your own books as…
Heartbreak: A Fifty Word Story My fifty word story was published today! Check it out and rate it…
May has been a great month. My writing is getting published in FOUR places. What?!?!?! It feels unreal. But I’m still submitting different stories so hopefully the list will continue to grow. The third piece I’m having published is a short piece called “Hell is a Strange Place” and will be published in June 2013. Stay tuned for a link! In other writing news, I’ve just submitted my screenplay to the Austin Film Festival. I know it’s a long shot but I just had to do it. You never know…
I am very excited to tell you all that I’m getting published… TIMES THREE! I’ve now heard back from three places that want to publish my work. “Dear Prudence” will be published by two different places, the second will have an alternate ending. My flash fiction piece titled “Fuck Melinda… Literally” will also be published. This is very exciting news for me! I’m currently feeling inspired by all the love so I’ve been writing a lot of different flash fiction pieces. I’ll be posting…
Hello dear followers! It’s been a while since I’ve updated so here I am to…um…update! First off, I would like to tell you all the FABULOUS news I received early today! My short story Dear Prudence will be published in the Jan/Feb 2014 issue of Down in the Dirt magazine! I’m so very excited to have my first short story published! It will also be available online later this week so I will be sure to post that link for you when it is up. In other writing news…
Nail biting. Hyperventilation. Pulse quickening. Finger tapping. Leg shaking. These are all signs that you may or may not have your first real draft of your novel in the hands of FOUR of your friends for a few days and have heard nothing from any of them since you gave it to them. These are all signs for how stressed you are. These are all signs that you may or may not internally combust if said friends do not finish the heck up soon. These are all signs you might be going crazy. I will shift my attention elsewhere. I…
My novel is a bird. Yep, you heard me correct. A bird. My novel has taken flight and is out in the world. Never before has anyone ever read any of it. Well, that isn’t true entirely. My fiction writing professor in college read the first two chapters but now that it has a different beginning, she technically has only read the second and that was years ago. Much has changed since then. I finished my first round of editing tonight and offered to share my work with any of my friends who would brutally critique it. So…
A quick word on beginnings. As a writer, I know that it is my job to hook the reader immediately. If I don’t, they will put the book down and move on to something else, something better. Now that I’m in the editing process of my novel, I could not hate beginnings any more than I possibly do now. Or maybe I just hate mine. But I digress… The beginning of my novel took place after a one night stand. Yep, Stella is mighty classy (not). But reading it after having a lot of space…
I think I’m actually in the final chapter of my novel. I’m at least in the final “event” that is going to take place. I’m just not sure if it will take one or two chapters to fulfill this. It is a very crucial moment and it is going to be very emotional but also very pleasing to finally write it since I’ve been dreaming about this moment for so long. A word about (my) endings: I’ve probably written about ten different endings for this novel over the…
