Baby Two: 32 Weeks Pregnant

32 weeks pregnant

Baby Lamotta is due September 28th, 2017!

Today is 8/3/17 which means I’m 32 weeks pregnant!

Baby is the size of a plastic scooter board.

I’ve gained… 18 pounds!

Midwife appointment this week? Nope, but I had one last week! I saw one of the new midwives (If I remember correctly, her name was Karen) and then Jualeah gave me an almost-spanking for not being so awesome with taking my iron. Don’t get me wrong, I want to not be anemic anymore, but that liquid iron is so gross and it’s not cheap! It costs about $30 every 6 days. Add that up… it gets steep!

Jualeah explained to me that I have to have my iron at a certain level to continue care at Baby & Company, which of course scared me into being super strict with myself. She suggested instead of putting it in a full glass of juice, to instead just cut it a little with juice. Doing it this way allows me to drink it quickly and not suffer through a whole glass of feeling like I’m drinking copper. I set an alarm on my phone for twice a day so I’m holding myself super accountable. I’m happy to say that I haven’t missed a dose in a week. No spankings needed, Jualeah! 😉

Current mood: Overwhelmed and proud! Yesterday was a big day. Jude started Kindergarten with a staggered entry day (he goes full time starting on Monday) and I bought a house! Yep, you read that right! I’m seven months pregnant and I’m sort-of moving. Well, not me. I’ve been living with my dad for a while now. First it was because of my divorce, and then with my mom sick I didn’t want to leave. What was supposed to be a couple months turned into FOUR YEARS! Holy cow. This house has been Jude’s home for the majority of his life, and when my parents told me they wanted to sell it to me two years ago, I thought they were crazy.

It took me a while to get to a financial place that made sense to buy a home, and I finally signed the closing docs yesterday. So the home I moved into in the 4th grade is officially my home. I can’t wait for Jordan and Hattie to enjoy it as much as Jude and I do. So while I’m not going anywhere technically, we still have to move my dad’s stuff out, and my stuff in. And that includes moving all of my bedroom stuff into the master. So time is ticking to get all of this done and do the nursery. I have to paint, scrape the popcorn ceiling, decorate, paint a crib, paint a dresser, and get everything in place before Hattie arrives to her new room. I’m exhausted just thinking about how much work needs to be done!

Cravings: Carrot cake and I are BFFs. Which is totally cool because carrots are veggies, right?

Food Aversions: Pizza and I have decided that we are not worthy of each other. What I thought was a break up, might actually be a divorce. Le sigh.

The yucky stuff: The downside to taking lots of iron? Being constipated all the freakin’ time. I just want to pooooooop!

Currently rocking: I pulled the plug and switched to maternity Le Tote. It was time. And I kind of love their maternity selection! The dress I’m wearing today is so pretty and super comfortable.

The best thing about pregnancy this week? Knowing that I’ve gained less weight makes me a bit relieved because I knew Jordan was a big baby and I did NOT want to give birth to a 10-pounder. I also got to see the gorgeous baby shower invites that Kelly sent out and I’m excited for the shower on the 19th!

What’s different about baby #2 than with Jude’s pregnancy? By this point, I’d gained about 22 pounds with Jude. I was induced on my due date with Jude and he was 7lbs 4oz, so I’m guessing this baby is a bit smaller than him, but she could have a growth spurt – who knows!

I’m nervous about: Getting the house ready in time for baby.

Other thoughts: Jude started kindergarten yesterday and it really sunk in that my baby is no longer a baby. While I know I get to experience all of this again with Hattie, it’s making me sad thinking that Jude has grown up so much. I hope I cherish my time with Hattie as much as I did with Jude. I know things will be a lot different with two kids, but I’m excited to see how they interact and grow together.
