There are many things that I’ve taken for granted in life. Being able to travel is never one of them. Being able to hop on a plane and visit with a good friend and his brother for 36 hours was such a perfect way to spend a weekend. We started our Saturday with bottomless mimosas for two hours. Then we spent the day at Govenors Ball festival. I even ran into a friend from high school. It had been almost ten years since I’ve seen Addie. I’m such a lucky girl!
Something I’ve been pondering about lately is Taylor Swift. She mentions the names of guys in her song who did her wrong, and makes millions. If anyone else does the same, they get crazy people knocking on their door (metaphorically speaking, of course). I’m not one to be bothered by these people, but I do find it comical. You don’t even mention their name and they are up in a tizzy. If the world spent less time caring about what people think of them (like I do) and more time bettering themselves, they wouldn’t care in the first place. Just food for thought.
Now, I’ve been known to meet really great guys in bars. I don’t know how it happens, but it does. I was at architect a couple weeks ago and met this guy. He shall remain nameless for the time being, because I don’t want to jinx it, but kissing him on the dance floor, well, it felt like coming home after a long day. It wasn’t magic. It wasn’t like that at all. It was comfort. It was a new normal. I think it’s important to find someone who makes you comfortable, who feels like they’re a kind of home. I feel like I may have found that. I’ve been waiting for this feeling for a long time. A verrrrry long time. Probably all my life. I keep thinking I’m close, but I’ve never quite gotten there. But I’m headed down the right path now. I can feel it in my bones. He’s nothing like anyone I’ve ever had feelings for, and to be honest, my neck hurt hella bad after kissing him each time–he’s 6’1″– but it was just right where I needed to be. And he’s going to be my date next month to Kathyln & Nader’s wedding! I’m so excited to see him in a bow tie!
As far as work goes, this week was our POA that I’ve been a part of planning for months. It went great and I got SO many compliments. It was nice to be recognized for my work. I even introduced myself to someone from our Weston office and she knew exactly who I was and said she felt like she already knew me. She told me I had so many great ideas for our company. What an amazing compliment! 🙂
Last but not least–it’s almost time! In less than 2 weeks, I leave for 16 days in Europe. I’ll be travelling to Budapest, Vienna, Bratislava & Munich. I’ll be arriving in Budapest w/ Kryss. Then we will take a bus to Vienna where I’ll be the rest of the trip. There will be a day trip to Bratislava and I’ll spend a full day in Munich with Dennis, my crossfit buddie who just happens to be in Munich that day. 🙂 I’m so excited to experience my first graduate residency for my MFA program. It’s so intimidating but I know it will be a wonderful experience. I’m so lucky to be doing something I love!
