Baby Two: 38 Weeks Pregnant

38 weeks pregnant

Baby Lamotta is due September 28th, 2017!

Today is 9/14/17 which means I’m 38 weeks, y’all!

Baby is the size of a ukelele… but don’t say that word in my house because Jordan bought me one for Christmas last year and I’ve yet to attempt to learn to play it. I’m a terrible fiance!

I’ve gained… 26.4 pounds!

Midwife appointment this week? Yes! We saw my girl Karen on Tuesday. She is the absolute sweetest. We chatted about what to expect going forward, she was able to press on me and show both Jordan and I where the baby’s back and head were (pretty freaky to feel her head that low), and we got to hear her heartbeat. Jordan told her with loads of excitement that he wanted to catch the baby and Karen matched his excitement and explained that the midwife would get the head out and then he’d be able to assist with the rest if everything is normal. She told us to remember 5-1-1 (contractions five minutes apart, lasting 1 minute, for 1 hour) so we know when to call and explained the procedure for antibiotics for me since I have group B strep. I was given birth certificate paperwork and an emergency number for the birth center and then I scheduled my next visit – which just so happens to be on my due date! I joked that maybe I wouldn’t be there for that one and baby girl will come early. We shall see!

Current mood: Happy, calm, and ready. Let’s do this!

Cravings: Ice cream is always on my mind.

Food Aversions: Pizza… eggs… honestly I have a hard time eating in general because there’s NO room in there. Baby girl is squishing everything.

The yucky stuff: I’ve been having some bouts of extreme nausea lately, really soft stools (which I heard from other mamas was a sign of impending labor but who really knows), heartburn that feels like the fires of hell, frequent peeing, exhaustion and energy at extreme lows and highs (that energy has caused some major nesting), and I’m sure there’s other things I’m forgetting since mama can’t remember her own name most days.

Currently rocking: A cute Le Tote maternity dress. Alison, one of my professors from my grad program, just started Le Tote after seeing some of the pieces I purchased while in Spain and she told me this week she’s addicted too. I love showing other women the awesomeness that is Le Tote. Y’all, I’m such a clothes hoarder and can never afford the cute clothes I want so Le Tote is such a lifesaver. I’m obsessed. And their maternity selection is on point! Save 25% off your Le Tote subscription for the next 2 months by using code SEPTEMBER25 today only 9/14!

The best thing about pregnancy this week? I was listening to Taylor Swift’s newest song …Are You Ready For It? and baby girl started dancing away in my belly. Breeding her in the womb to be a Tay Swizzle fan, y’all. Haters aren’t welcome. 🙂

What’s different about baby #2 than with Jude’s pregnancy? I don’t know when I’m having this baby! With Jude, I was induced on my due date so the week before, I knew when I’d have him (if I didn’t go into labor earlier). This time, nature is taking its course and I could meet her ANYTIME. It’s kind of terrifying and exciting. I’m hoping my water doesn’t break or I go into labor in a public place.

I’m nervous about: The pain. I’ve been through this before but once they hand you that baby, you forget all about the pain. Therefore I don’t remember it being that bad even though I’m sure it was.

Other thoughts: The house is slowly coming together. I finally have some pictures on the walls, which helps it feel more homey. I’m still waiting for my dad (and brother) to get a bunch of stuff out of the house, but at least the downstairs has some nice areas in it. I just wish it would get done before the baby comes and we have visitors who might judge the heck out of our messiness.

Also, my dad is going out of town tonight until Tuesday AM so I’m hoping Hattie stays in the womb until he’s back. I’d hate for him to miss her debut! And I’d hate for Jude to be stuck in the room with us while I’m laboring. I don’t mind him there, but I don’t know how he’ll feel watching mama in pain.
