Baby Lamotta is due September 28th, 2017!
Today is 8/31/17 which means I’m 36 weeks pregnant!
Baby is the size of a cabbage patch doll.
I’ve gained… 26 pounds! I somehow gained like 4 pounds in a week. YIKES.
Midwife appointment this week? Yep! I had my third trimester group visit yesterday afternoon with Angela and Karen. There were about six other moms and a couple spouses at this visit. We took turns weighing and doing blood pressure to ourselves and then met 1:1 with a midwife to check baby’s heartbeat and get measured. Karen did mine and I’m measuring 35 weeks which she said was completely normal. We put anonymous questions into a basket and Karen and Angela answered them for us. I learned a lot about what to bring to the birth center, what to have ready at home, and how to prepare for labor (buying some evening primrose oil!!). I found out last week that I’m group B strep positive so I’ll have to go to the birth center within 2 hours of my water breaking for my first dose of IV meds. If for some reason I don’t have an adequate amount of meds in me before she’s delivered, I’ll need to stay at the birth center for 10-12 hours post-delivery, rather than the usual 4-6 hours, so they can monitor her to be sure she didn’t get infected in any way. Group B is totally normal; 25% of pregnant women have it. But it can cause issues for a newborn so they want to play it safe. 🙂
Current mood: Getting excited and nervous! I’m so ready to meet her!
Cravings: Not many lately. Probably because I have no room in my belly anymore.
Food Aversions: I don’t want to talk about it.
The yucky stuff: I sound like a dying animal every time I try to roll over in bed. I’ve gotten terrible round ligament pain on the left side this week that caused me to be unable to walk on Monday and I ended up leaving work early so I could lie down. It’s getting better but still acts up.
Currently rocking: A Le Tote maternity dress!
The best thing about pregnancy this week? Hearing baby girl’s heartbeat and learning more about what to expect at the birth center.
What’s different about baby #2 than with Jude’s pregnancy? I don’t think I had round ligament pain this badly with Jude. I also wasn’t working anymore at this point, I don’t think. I got out of work like a month early because I was so stressed. But I’m planning on working until I deliver this time around.
I’m nervous about: Giving birth. I’m trying not to think about the pain part – I know I can do this!
Other thoughts: The house is slowly coming together! We have the TV mounted above the fireplace and re-arranged some furniture. There’s still a lot to do but it’s slowly getting there. I’m also working on the finishing touches for Hattie’s nursery.
