I know it’s taken me F-O-R-E-V-E-R to post about our Superhero or Princess gender reveal, but here it finally is! I found this idea via pinterest and it was super fun. Let me start by saying that I have nothing against women being superheroes. It actually was super obnoxious when I got a comment like “hey girls can be superheros too” and let me tell you, you are no fun if you think bashing on someone’s party idea is nice. It’s just a dang party. Get over it. It’s fun. It’s a theme. It doesn’t mean I’m not a feminist and won’t buy my little girl wonder woman outfits (ahem- totally doing it). If you don’t enjoy this theme, feel free to move along. Otherwise, read on to see all the cute ideas! If you end up doing this theme, please let me know how it turns out! It was super fun (and easy since these are common kid birthday party themes) to decorate and plan for!
Here is an example of the invitation I sent everyone!
Let’s start with the food! So I, of course, had to have both princess-related and superhero-related food and drink items. Therefore, we had things like Snow White’s apples, Fairy Godmother wands, Kryptonite krispies, and Joker juice.
The food was probably my favorite part but decorating was a lot of fun too! I stocked up at the dollar store and places like walmart, amazon, and target for anything cheap and princess or superhero related. The “oh baby” balloons and the banner were both dollar spot finds at Target.
My fiance Jordan is super crafty and artistic so he made this AWESOME castle for the actual reveal. It’s made out of cardboard and the opening is covered in thick tissue paper. We dropped the box with the outfit in it behind the opening so Jordan could punch through it and pull out either a princess or superhero outfit so we would know if it was a boy or a girl. Check out the video to see our reactions! (and check out how excited my dad is in the background – and Jude too!!)
